Dane Outreach works through an application process. All parties interested in adopting a Dane through our program need to fill out an application and have it approved prior to adoption.  Those people with an approved application on file will be contacted when dogs are available. Approved applicants are contacted before dogs are listed on the site, so it should be noted just because there are no dogs listed doesn't mean we don't have any in the program.

Our policy requires that all adoptive homes have a securely-fenced yard or a suitable dog kennel.  The minimum height for fencing is five feet for a yard and six feet for a dog kennel. We do not adopt dogs out to homes without a fenced yard. If you are planning to fence your yard at a later date, please wait until your fencing is completed to fill out an application. To find out about additional fencing requirements please contact us. Dane Outreach reserves the right to determine what is considered suitable for a Great Dane.

Great Danes are indoor dogs requiring close contact with their human families.  Because of this, we do not adopt Danes to homes wishing to have a dog who lives outside.

All dogs are spayed or neutered prior to being adopted.  There are no exceptions to this policy. A home visit will be required prior to an adoption.

We request a donation of $175.00 plus reimbursement for veterinary costs if applicable. The donation includes vaccines (as applicable), micro-chip and registration fee, leash, collar, tags and care packet. The only acceptable forms of payment are cashiers check, money order or cash.  We do not accept checks or PayPal for adoption donations and/or medical reimbursements.

Please note that Dane Outreach reserves the right to refuse an adoption to an approved home if they deem the home is not suitable for the dog; even if an application has been approved.

Additional requirements may also apply as applicable to individual dogs.

Please make sure it is legible.  Make sure to sign pages 3 and 4.

Attach your check for $5.00 to cover the processing fee.
Please make your check out to Dane Outreach.
Mail your application and check to: Dane Outreach-Applications.  The address can be found at the top of the application.

PLEASE do not express mail applications.  It actually delays response as mail is generally picked up after hours and mail requiring a signature is unavailable.

If you have an e-mail address, you will be notified when your application is received. PLEASE BE SURE IT IS LEGIBLE.

Once your application is received, it will be forwarded to the volunteer who reviews and approves or denies them.  You will be contacted when the decision is made.
